saiyaman just released 191 raw.
i've been spending my last couple of nights in the sps room. i think i'm gonna use that as my basecamp. aimee and i decided to call it the "batcave" which is rather unoriginal but we couldnt find anything else cool that goes along with "to the"
home-made dinner tonight at tara's place along with a bunch of other physics majors. cool. she and aimee better make some really good dishes. i'm hungry.
you know how they say that if your eye twitches, that means someone is talking shit about you? well my eye sure twitches a lot more after i become a TA. i guess people like to talk shit about me.
speaking of expressing opinions, i found out that such concept has the word "discussion" implied in it. there is hardly ever any opinions that arent being followed up by disagreement or angry words. in MY case, every single word uttered either results in angry words or disagreement. i know this because every sentence i said gets me into big trouble with the girls in my physics class. and i think this is true for every person on earth: YOUR OPINIONS ARE MOST LIKELY TO HAVE ANGRY FOLLOW-UPS. this gets me thinking: maybe george orwell is right. since it's PERHAPS the nature of human beings to be non-conformists, wouldn't this world be a MUCH MUCH peaceful place if we all just DON'T express our opinions? i'm not saying BETTER, i'm saying MORE PEACEFUL. this way, there will be no one flaming or bashing someone else because of some simple general opinions that the other person said, like "ice cream tastes horrible" or "piano sounds much better than guitars" or "i think people are naturally evil" or "physics SUCKS."
you know, if people's opinions intimidate you in any way, maybe YOU've got a problem. and by YOU i mean YOU who apparently got nothing better to do than reading this. but fear not, you're NOT the only one, there are other people who read this too, apparently. oh, and i'm not putting you on the spot. and now you're thinking "what the hell does this dumbass mean by problem? i aint got no problem." well, here's what i define as the problem: if you can't accept what someone else think of this world or anything in it. forget freedom of speech, just go with logic. people can say whatever they want about anything and you just have NO RIGHT to say that they are wrong. and i put an emphasis to "NO RIGHT." maybe wrong according to YOU, but how would that count? what makes YOU the right person? what determines that YOUR beliefs are the right ones?
i'm not saying you can't have opinions on things. after all, your opinions are what makes you unique. your opinions are your definition of this world. your opinions determine who you are, the purpose of your existence, and where you stand in this wretched world. so opinions are good, and you SHOULD have them. and if you have any opinions on someone else's opinions, that's fine too. however, it is NOT okay if you then go on to bash that person, or yell out angry words. that is NOT going to solve anything and will just make more mess in this world. if you disagree with something, express your opinions formally. write a paper on it or something. if you disagree with something, and you start a reply with "you ignorant fool" or "you son of a bitch" or some other angry words, trust me on this: your opinions WILL NOT BE REGARDED, big time. think logically: if you read something addressed to you that starts out by calling you "son of a bitch" would you even think that person has a valid point? well, if you really are a son of a bitch, then... yes, but that's not my point. my point is that an unemotional intro to your argument makes ANY reader starts out thinking that you might have some valid point in there. if you seem angry at the beginning, most rational readers will think that your opinions are irrational because it's filled with anger.
so here's my final point: we are human beings, and we are volatile. if you want to express your opinions, do it unemotionally. if you want to offend anyone, do it explicitly and unemotionally. words like "you fuckface!" does not offend anyone. really. profanities have been too commonly used in this world to have any emotional effect on an adult. i say adult because if you go to a middle school yard and yell out some profanities to a kid, he'll cry. or he'll beat you up. either way works.
maybe we should all just live like how george orwell describes in 1984. THOUGHT SUPRESSION. world would be a much peaceful place. no bashing one another, no hating, no wars, no friendship ruined. because if you think of it, all of these start out with one person expressing opinions.
long live george orwell.
