incoherent thought

at panera again, utilizing free wireless.

will be heading to downtown sacramento later, to check out the state capitol. might as well do so while i'm here. who knows, maybe arnold and his hummer just happened to be around.

there are few things that have been boggling my mind. two, to be exact.

the first is the inconsistency of this thing called "leadership." throughout three and a half year of college, i get numerous emails and pamphlets about leadership opportunities, leadership training, leadership conference, et cetera. of all these, the one that bothers me the most is the training part, which then claims to "prepare the future leaders of the world." think about it. if everyone gets trained to be leaders, everyone succeeds, everyone leads, who's going to be lead? everyone would want to lead, and thus leaving no one to be lead. i think instead of leadership this or that, there should be programs that train you to be a good follower. that way people have the choice to lead or to follow. this way those who want to lead can lead well, and those who can't or don't want to lead can follow well. the whole thing with riots breaking out here and there is always blamed on the fact that the leaders can't lead well. what if it's actually the people who can't follow well?

the thing that makes it even worse is the fact that people who have already become leaders, want to gather up people with leadership potential to hone their skills to perfection. it's counterintuitive. if they are natural born leaders, they would not want to be lead in the first place; they would want to lead. investing money on leadership development, while may not be a complete waste, is definitely a wrong strategy. this world might very well be a more peaceful place had all the leaders invested their time and money in developing good followers, instead of good leaders. leaders training leaders is like setting up their own future demise, and i think that is completely, entirely, and utterly stupid.

so, future leaders. when the time has come for you to lead, remember to invest your time and money on training good followers, instead of digging your own grave. because you should know that one day, when the time is right, they will do whatever they can to overthrow you and take over your position. we are all in the dark side of the force, living the ways of the sith, there is no doubt about that.

another thing that has been boggling me for a long time, and does so whenever i urinate or excrete in public bathrooms, is the fact that there are braille words on the walls, doors, and diaper changing station. of course they are everywhere and not just in the bathroom, but it makes no sense to me. if these people are blind, or supposed to be so, how should they know that there are braille words there for them to read? i wonder how long a blind person would spend rubbing a wall or a door before he found where the braille words were and figured out what the wall or door is for. could you imagine how pissed off he would get if he spent half-an-hour of his life rubbing walls or doors and in the end realized that there were no braille words available for him to read?

imagine a blind man who had been running on a full bladder for the past two hours, had spent the next 20 minutes rubbing the entire walls of a fastfood restaurant to figure out where the bathroom was, and then realized that the only door with a braille word that spelled MEN was locked. now imagine how pissed off he would be. he would burn that place down.

there. i said it.
